Advanced EEG Analysis &

Neurofeedback Protocol Design

1-day ANSA  post conference workshop with

Rivi SELA

Dr. / CEO & Founder of BetterFly Neurofeedback

Mon Aug 20, 2018

Arbour Room, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre

Description

Learn how to reach more accurate diagnosis and choose the most effective treatment protocol for your trainees!

EEG and Quantitative EEG (qEEG) are valuable tools for supporting the diagnosis and targeted, effective therapy of a host of different neuropsychological disorders. This one-day hands-on workshop will go over EEG biomarkers to classify brain disorders and to reach more personalized treatment protocols. The workshop will demonstrate step by step how to analyze Raw EEGs, using sample recordings of patients suffering from ADHD, ASD and Epilepsy.

The workshop will have four parts:

Part 1: Neuromarkers characterizing the different types of ADHD and typical neuromarkers prevalent in ASD.

Part 2: Hands on analysis of qEEG. We will look at the raw EEG and then analyze the qEEG using Spectra charts, diagrams, maps, spike detection and spike averaging. We will also use visualization methods, such as Dipole Approximations and Low Resolution Electromagnetic Tomography (LORETA).

Part 3: Deciding on a treatment protocol based on the Raw EEG and qEEG analyses and following treatment outcomes using qEEG.

Part 4: Open discussion and analysis of EEG recordings brought by the attendees.

Format and Agenda:

The workshop is a hands-on learning opportunity. The demonstration will use WinEEG for analysis and will use the HBI database for age-norm comparisons. Attendees who would like to practice qEEG analyses in class should bring their laptop computer with their HBI comparison key. Attendees are welcome to bring EEG recordings of their own clients to be analyzed in class.

Workshop preparation

If you are attending this workshop please download and install the following software:

1.  WinEEG from Mitsar Medical site link: www.mitsar-eeg.ru/download/software/WinEEG_2.127.98_CMPLT_ENG.zip

or from our dropbox links:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/pn44dayhvukwr59/WinEEG_2.127.98_CMPLT_ENG.zip?dl=0

NB! some people had difficulties starting WinEEG on their computers. The simplesolution is to  find the folder C:\Mitsar\WinEEG\VCR and run the file vcredist_x86_1.exe

After this WinEEG starts normally!

2. HBIMed database

Youi will need to unzip downloaded files first before installing them.

3. Power Points and files from Rivi:

ADHD PDF.pdf

EEG examples  (dropbox link, needs unzipping)

4. LORETA

There is a requirement by LORETA developer that you register at his website: http://www.uzh.ch/keyinst/NewLORETA/Software/Software.htm

You will need to register and request a password. We can provide assistance during the conference preferably before  the workshop if you have difficulties. Please let us know in advance and have TeamViewer7 installed.

Here are steps for LORETA installation
a) install the HBIdb software (this part1+2 is the proper software; it will also install all necessary drivers),
b) install WinEEG,
c) if the WinEEG version is higher than 2.90, then one needs to fill the c:\Mitsar\WinEEG\database folder with the files given
d) install Loreta,
e) install sLoreta,
f) copy the Matrix
g) connect WinEEG to Loreta
h) connect sLoreta to Loreta
done.

Here is a document that outlines the process in details:

Setup Loreta and sLoreta.doc

Rivi will only demonstrate basic LORETA at the workshop. But if you would like to go further to play with sLORETA you will need to download a MATRIX for LORETA

5. Security Dongles for HBIMed Database with comparisons

In order to compare your EEG to normative averages in HBIMed database you will need to have a database security dongle. It will be supplied by Rustam at the workshop. PLease make sure it is retuned at the end of the workshop.

Remote support

for any installation issues please email to Rustam Yumash or come and see him at the Brain Mind & Memory Institute trade table during ANSA conference. We prefer to support you remotely.

You will need to install TeamViewer7. Only this version can be used , not later. This version is only available from our Dropbox:download link

We are looking forward to see you at the conference and the workshop and BMMI table at the trade show!
